GDPR expands information requirement for video surveillance in non-public areas
Request your free templates at DIVIS!
By now probably everybody knows that the new GDPR becomes effective on May 25th. In addition to many other changes, a number of additional regulations on the “information requirements” will become effective for companies with video surveillance in action. The new information requirements for non-public areas with video surveillance are regulated in Article 13 of the GDPR.
We would like to inform you about the details and introduce our free templates.
Extended information requirements starting by the end of May
The information obligation itself is not new and commonly known. Even the currently valid Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) contains binding regulations on that.
However, the requirements will increase sharply from May 25, 2018 onwards. The currently common texts on the signs informing about video surveillance are then no longer sufficient. There has to be a lot of information added. These must be immediately recognizable and well readable. As part of our services, we consider it necessary to inform our customers about these new legal requirements.
We also hold updated signage templates ready for you.
In addition to the signposting to indicate video surveillance in DIN A4 format, the new regulations also require the publication of an information leaflet also in the form of a sign in DIN A3 format with mandatory contents.
For both notices our customers will receive a FREE template (available in three language versions: German, English, French) on request or it can be purchased as printed signs for a fee directly from us. If you are interested in our free templates for information sign and information sheet, also if you are interested in the paid signage production, please contact our sales department directly.

Learn more about the product selection process at DIVIS - 360° 4K camera from Panasonic
Although 360° 4K camera technology has seen great acceptance in 2017, and many customers appreciate the technical image quality benefits, our sales colleagues have been asked repeatedly why DIVIS focuses on distributing specific products and does not offer other brands that may be cheaper instead. The cause lies in our selection process, which all third-party products that could potentially become part of our total solutions are undergoing.
We would like to take a look at the product selection process at DIVIS and explain to you how we came to select the Panasonic WV-461:
In the first step, of course, always a number of comparable products from different manufacturers and different models, if available, are used.
The product management department is now taking a close look at these products and testing them. Our selection process can take some time, because even in third-party products, we are always looking for sustainable solutions in order to make sure that the investment of our customers can be optimally amortized through reliability and a corresponding product life cycle.
Comparison camera model 1
Panasonic WV-461
Pro
- Good first image impression
- High resolution of 3072 x 3072
Contra
- Poor image display at the edge of the picture
- Slightly distorted display at the edge
- Camera image is slightly cut off at the top
- Slightly more motion blur
In the case of Panasonic, we became aware of the manufacturer’s products in the course of our continuous observation of market developments. In the camera, our specialists recognized a good alternative to the previously used quad camera and after some quick initial testing and comparison of the the technical data one camera was acquired for testing purposes. This camera was first tested internally and after a very good first impression in a logistics hall under real operating conditions. The delivered images were compared with the quad camera and the quality was convincing.
Therefore, in the next step the camera was released for the first projects. It was important to us in all tests that visual material for comparison was always created in the actual logistics halls in order to carry out our tests under realistic conditions.
The reason: Our 360° 4K cameras are installed on average at a height of 6m (about 20 Feet) in the hall, which is not comparable to an installation in conventional operating rooms with ceiling heights of 3-4 meters (10-13 Feet).
In the course of time various alternative cameras by other well-known manufacturers were tested under these conditions and compared with our Panasonic camera, again and again with the same result: The Panasonic camera delivers the best quality.
Comparison camera model 2
Panasonic WV-461
Pro
- Good first image impression
- Picture sharpness at the edge
- Black frame around the picture
Contra
- Lower resolution 2640 x 2640 vs. 2992 x 2992
- Significantly smaller display at the edge
- Objects are shown distorted (aspect ratio is not right)
- At the edge of the image the Panasonic displays more
Conclusion
Since we only want to supply our customers with the best components, it goes without saying that the Panasonic WV-461 has become our number one recommendation in the field of 360° 4K camera technology.

Review: Tag der Logistik (Day of Logistics) 2018 at DIVIS

In April we had our premiere as host of the Tag der Logistik (Day of Logistics).
The event offers interested parties the opportunity to get insight on the many tasks and opportunities in the field of logistics directly on site in one company.
Launched by the Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL), the Tag der Logistik is being held annually throughout Germany.
As there is a lot to discover at DIVIS, we were looking forward to giving our guests a warm and informative welcome at our premises.
A diverse group of eleven participants had registered, some interested business customers and some private individuals from the region with interest in the industry and DIVIS.
After the welcome by our managing director, Thomas Kroll, sales manager Hendrik Reger led the group through our company building while moderating the tour in a casual fashion. Everyone liked to use the opportunity to take a knowledge-hungry look into all areas in a relaxed atmosphere.

Following the tour, our sales colleagues Danny Kroll and Vincent Schöning presented our CargoVIS and ParcelVIS video solutions for CEP, goods and transshipment warehouses. The mixed field of visitors led to interesting questions, e.g. on functionality and handling, resulting in a vivid dialogue.

The positive feedback at the end confirmed what the colleagues involved in the project felt: It was an overall successful day that everyone enjoyed.
We would like to thank all participants and will gladly be part again of the Logistics Day 2019.
DIVIS TIP OF THE MONTH
Video surveillance software in the warehouse
How to split video clips in CargoVIS and ParcelVIS
The feature described below exists in both, CargoVIS and ParcelVIS. It is likely to be used more frequently in CargoVIS, as in ParcelVIS the throughput of the parcels is usually faster and usually only a few images per camera have to be exported.
The Situation
It happens that a parcel or shipment stands in one place for several hours or days and is not moved. In the search with our video surveillance software in the warehouse, an accelerated search with the help of Motion+ or fast forward and rewind in chunks of hours is possible.
Exporting this video sequence would normally generate unnecessarily memory-intensive data if the sequence is processed uncut. If the corresponding video sequence does not contain any content that needs to be used as evidence, the export dialog offers the possibility to shorten the sequence in question to the first and last minute of the standstill.
DIVIS BEHIND THE SCENES
Our colleagues in product management

Product management is an essential part of DIVIS’ quality assurance and product development.
Today, we are introducing the colleagues working in product management at DIVIS, who ensure that the best hardware is used and that our software runs smoothly through comprehensive tests.
Daniel Beckendorf
Daniel started his career at DIVIS as a Systems Engineer in 2006. In 2009, the information electronics engineer for devices and system technology switched to planning and project engineering. Since the end of 2016, he has been reenforcing the product management division at DIVIS. The most important tasks in product management include the testing of hardware and software for the purpose of quality assurance and the documentation of work processes.
In addition, Daniel is administrating the internal knowledge database and he is a trained fire prevention aide and first responder.
He draws his motivation from the friendly working atmosphere, his acknowledged work in a varied working environment as well as the performance-based compensation.
Customer enthusiasm at DIVIS Daniel describes as follows:
"The customer does not see us as a company with a background in selling a product, but as a partner in solving the problem."
Daniel sees the special strength of DIVIS in the company working together as a team to tackle and solve problems.
Andreas Fendel
Since 2008, the IT system administrator has been responsible for product management at DIVIS.
In the field of hardware, for example, he checks the qualification of components, e.g. cameras, for our video management system. He is involved in the maintenance and further development of our software products and develops individual solutions in cases where a customer project can not be operated with the products currently available from DIVIS.
Andreas feels particularly motivated by working independently, which comes along with responsibility, but also with the possibility to actively shape his working environment and the further development of DIVIS with his own ideas and suggestions.
The pleasant working atmosphere, a friendly and creative team and varied tasks complete the good feeling.
“DIVIS has enthusiastic customers,” says Andreas, “because above all the perspective of every project is to exceed expectations - a goal that the DIVIS team regularly achieves.”
Andreas sees the greatest strength of DIVIS in the all-round carefree package:
"As a customer, you get a powerful solution from us and you do not have to worry about anything. We plan, build, adapt, maintain, and keep the systems running, allowing the customer to focus on their own work."
