2019 REVIEW
Healthy growth at DIVIS in 2019
We look back satisfied on a successful year. From every angle DIVIS was set on growth, which ran as a central aspect across all areas of DIVIS: for example, expansion in existing and new customer business. This had a positive effect on sales for 2019 and led to our team also growing. In this review, we will tell you what exactly has happened at DIVIS in 2019.
More locations and customers
Throughout Europe, we have been seeing a further increase this year both in initial installations for new customers and in the expansion of our existing systems.
Meanwhile, we supply companies in 20 countries. Recently, we started serving Croatia. Here, we equipped our customer Gebrüder Weiss with the CargoVIS video management software and around 150 indoor and outdoor cameras.
Among the newly acquired major customers from the year 2019, adding to other big names, is Emons. Our existing customers also signaled this year that they will continue to work together with our DIVIS solutions in the future. New features for the software interface or completely new systems at other existing locations are anticipated for the new year.
Last but not least, the continuously booming online trade is causing the parcel volume to grow perceptibly year after year. The year 2019 followed the upward trend as well. As a result, solutions for seamless shipment tracking in the parcel service provider market are becoming increasingly important, which in turn is reflected in an increased demand for our products for video-based parcel tracking. This year, various DPD locations have decided in favor of our ParcelVIS solution, including the largest parcel sorting center in Hamm, Westphalia.
DIVIS solutions are now known and in demand throughout Europe, customers are convinced of our products. After the TSB location in Barcelona, Spain, had been equipped by DIVIS in 2018, the order for the location in Madrid followed in 2019.
Despite Brexit, DIVIS is also able to strengthen its position in the UK. Two British key accounts were won in 2019 and we are optimistic that we will be able to expand our business there.
Growth within our team
With the increasing number of tasks, we have strengthened our manpower and now count more than 70 employees to the DIVIS team, making sure that we can continue being the competent partner at your side at any time.
We will introduce two of our new employees in the field of software development to you in this newsletter. [Link to the corresponding team area]
The promotion of young talent is also an important element of DIVIS’ efforts to grow steadily in the future. For example, this year we have created a new training as IT specialist for application development. Four apprentices are now completing their professional training in software development at DIVIS.
Further junior staff in our company are two students participating in the dual study program and one apprentice in the field of computer science for system integration.
The areas of implementing, assembly as well as service & support have also been expanded in order to keep pace with the requirements in the future and to continue to offer you the DIVIS service in the usual standard.
Looking forward
Inspired by the successes achieved, we are already looking forward to a good and successful new Year together with you, while you can look forward to interesting live performances and new releases from DIVIS.
In March, there will already be the next opportunity to meet our team live. Of course, we will present again at the LogiMAT 2020.
Exciting topics such as the increasing importance of locating and our solutions, License Plate+ with automatic barrier control including black and white lists and the presentation of the 360° concept for our ParcelVIS customers are already waiting for their appearance.
We would also like to invote you to listen to our lecture on "Artificial Intelligence". These topics are no longer just music of the future in the media, yet they are becoming increasingly important in many sectors, including logistics.
We look forward to sharing with you our latest insights on deployment, limitations and future developments.
LogiMAT has become a part of our fixed event program.
The potential to achieve a similar status also has our own in-house event, the "Kieler Daag". Block the days from 24.-26. June 2020 in your calendar already. We will send you an invitation with detailed information about the event in early 2020.
Further information on our events in the year 2020 and our first trade fair appearance in the new year at the LogiMAT will be available in the next newsletter.
DIVIS TIP OF THE MONTH
Package tracking in ParcelVIS: Switch research from sorting belt to contractor’s area
During parcel tracking in the depot, the parcels initially run on the sorting belt and can be located via the belt tracking. Once the package has been taken over by the contractor at the end of the belt, a switch from the sorting belt research to the contractor’s area research mode in ParcelVIS is necessary in order to be able to follow the package without interruption.
Today we will show you how to perform this switch from sorting belt to contractor’s area research.
DIVIS BEHIND THE SCENES
Christian Kiehn and Tobias Schwede from the DIVIS software development
Software development is the heart of our products. Our team offers a good mix of many years of experience and new impulses. More growth at DIVIS also means that we increasingly need reinforcement in this area.
Therefore today, we would like to introduce two more colleagues from our development team: Christian Kiehn and Tobias Schwede.
Tobias Schwede
With Tobias DIVIS has been able to win another talent for the development team.
He completed his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science at the University of Kiel.
Since the end of 2018, Tobias has been responsible for the continuation of a joint project between DIVIS and the university. Since November 1, 2019 he is now an integral part of our team. With his passion for computers, technology and the solving of complex tasks, he fits perfectly here.
Tobias immediately felt comfortable in the flat hierarchies and the team spirit at DIVIS and is now developing intelligent total solutions for your company together with us.
He also plans to write his upcoming doctoral thesis on specific aspects of image processing at DIVIS. In our efforts to promote employees, we will gladly support him by making Tobias time quotas available for the preparation of his dissertation.
Christian Kiehn
Christian began his master's thesis in April 2019 for his DIVIS Master of Science degree. The topic of his work, "Anonymization of Persons with Neural Networks", also includes the future oriented topics of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning. Thus, DIVIS now has an AI expert in the team with Christian, who has already tested several approaches at DIVIS in the context of his thesis.
Since November 1, 2019, he also focuses on the development and design of new software in the DIVIS team.
He particularly likes about his work that his creativity is required in developing software products and solving problems. He immediately felt comfortable in the DIVIS team and enjoys the friendly interaction, the positive atmosphere and independent work.
He feels like the greatest strength of DIVIS is the focus on tailor-made solutions for the individual requirements of the customers.
